He was predeceased by: his parents, Ernest Brasfield and Nina Louise Berry Callahan; his sister Louise Callahan Pender; and his grandson Matthew Hunter Callahan. He is survived by: his wife Betty McDaniel Callahan; his son James Robert "Bobby" Callahan (Lisa); his brother Harry H. Callahan (Pam); and his grandchild Ashley Brooke Callahan.

A funeral service was held on Wednesday, January 8th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Sweet Water Cemetery.
