It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Phillip Don Ellis Sr. of Sumiton, Alabama, who passed away on December 12, 2024, at the age of 85, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence Clyde Ellis and Nellie Thelma Ellis; his brothers, Robert, Gordon, Paul and Nelson; his son-in-law Bro. Jack Hester; and his great grandchildren, Grayson and Graham Hester.
He is survived by: his wife Helen Jean Ellis; his children, Deborah Ellis Hester and Phillip Don Ellis Jr.; his sisters, Nancy Cosper and Katie West (Bill); his grandchildren, Mark Hester (Heather), Brennan Ellis (Jordan), Garrett Ellis (Erin) and Amy Dedmon (Keith); his great grandchildren, Jakob Adams (Janie), Alec Adams, Fisher Hester, Gates Ellis, Everett Ellis, Emily Adams (Everette) and Sadie Wilkes; his great great grandchildren, Brooklyn Adams, Jillian Adams, Greyson Pickell and Madden Adams; and his daughter-in-law Regina Ellis.
Visitation was held on Friday, December 20th 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Sumiton First Baptist Church (620 Main St, Sumiton, AL 35148). A funeral service was held on Friday, December 20th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the same location. A graveside service was held on Friday, December 20th 2024 at the New Horizon Memorial Gardens (5203 Hollis Goodwin Rd, Dora, AL 35062).
