He was predeceased by: his parents, Samuel Jack Wells and Molly Bell Powell Wells; and his siblings, Talmage Wells, Hessie Anderson, Jewell Dawson and Willard Wells.
He is survived by: his wife Sonja Ann Wells; and his nieces, Brinda Nichols and Linda Sims.
Gwin made significant contributions to Sumiton, where he served as mayor for 20 years (1968-1988).
