He was predeceased by: his parents, Lonnie Wilkerson and Nina Wilkerson; his grandmothers, Ila Ward and Louise Smith; his brother John Frank Wilkerson; his grandson Andrew Phillips; and his grandson-in-law Butch Fuller.
He is survived by: his wife Ruby Louise Ivey Wilkerson; his siblings, Mildred Littlejohn and James Hugh Wilkerson; his children, Thelda Wilkerson, Martha Venable (Ray), Linda Edwards (Billy) and Joe Mack Wilkerson, Jr.; and his grandchildren, Jennifer Fuller, Rebecca Stubblefield, B. J. Miller (Megan), Stephanie Mason (Josh), Jacob Gamble, Ethan Gamble and Josalyn Wilkerson. He is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
