He was predeceased by: his parents, Jim Higgins and Stella Higgins; his brother Tommy Steele; and his grandparents, Grace Moody and Dave Moody.
He is survived by: his children, Brynli Haven Higgins, D. J. Higgins, James Henry "Little Jim'Higgins and Bryson Jack Higgins; his grandchildren, Kiera Higgins, Pantera Higgins and Marley Higgins; his siblings, Pamela Steele Fitzmartin, Steve Steele, Jackie Steele and James Henry "Jimmy" Downey; and his aunts and uncles, Dean Higgins, Sadie Higgins, Wayne Higgins and Lonnie Moody (Nancy Haney). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
