He was predeceased by: his parents, B. K. Taylor and Ella Taylor; his parents-in-law, Jack and Marguerite Beason; his wife Judy Beason Taylor; and his son Hardy R. Taylor, Jr..

He is survived by: his son Clay Beason Taylor; his grandson Bodie; his siblings, Henry Wallace Taylor, Mattie Lee Lacey, Jeanette Carol Taylor and Annie Gail Harmon; and his parents-in-law, Pete, Glenda Beason, Tommy, Carol Beason and David Beason. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Gideons International.

“To Clay, Henry, Mattie, Jeanette and Ann: I am so very sorry for the loss of your father and brother. I have not seen Richard in many years, but I have some wonderful childhood memories. I know that he was close to my Dad, Druewy, and was always exceptionally respectful. I remember after he asked Judy to marry him and of course told his parents, he, like Henry then came to Daddy to introduce his future wife. I know you will miss him so.
