She was predeceased by: her parents, James A. Emerson and Lee Emerson; her husband James David Dunston; her brothers, James Emerson, Amon Emerson and Robert Emerson; and her sisters-in-law, Norma Emerson and Joyce Emerson.

She is survived by: her daughter Audrey Michele Dunston; her sister Charlotte Kilgore; and her sister-in-law Phyllis Emerson.
