He was predeceased by: his wife Peggy Lee Hamilton; and his parents, Jesse Ernest and Louella Hamilton. He is survived by: his children, Michael Jay Hamilton (Anita), Zan Hunter Hamilton (Hazel) and Sammie Hamilton; his siblings, Phillip, David, Tim Hamilton, Betty Sellers and Eva Julian; and his grandchildren, Nichole, Stephanie, Caleb, Eric, Jessica, Lexi, Kealin, Cambryn, Austin, Jacob, Jennifer, Junstin, Amber and Candace. He is also survived by 29 Great Grandchildren; also a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family.
