He was predeceased by: his father James Buford Shankles; his foster parents, Edward Ingram and Alma Ingram; and his uncle Bud Shankles. He is survived by: his daughters, Tammy Smart (Joseph Sims) of Piedmont and Amanda Smart (Brandon Thompson) of Piedmont; his grandchildren, Kevin Sims, Lexie Smart and Landon Smart; and his brothers, Charles Shankles, Troy Shankles, Chris Horne, Bobby Weaver, Corey Poole, Darryl Buttram, Tim Langley and Keith Maddox.
