He was predeceased by: his parents, William "Bill" Merritt and Lilly Merritt; and his stepmother Myrtle Merritt. He is survived by: his wife Rachel; and his siblings-in-law, Louise Hughes, Jacque Johnson, Susan Smith (Keith), Shelly Stewart (Phillip), Kelly Johnson and Eddie Johnson. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
