He was predeceased by: his daughter Linda Couch; his stepdaughter Cherie Stewart Stephens; his parents, Earnest Elmer and Willie Mae Brooks (Wagnon); and his siblings, Elmer Kline Brooks (Ophelia), Joseph Elwood Brooks (Evelyn), Olga Henry Brooks, Lebert Levoy Brooks and Allie Louise Ely Marshall (Bob).
He is survived by: his wife Mildred Ruth Brooks of Snead; his son Marlin; his daughter-in-law Pat Brooks of Grayson Valley; his grandchildren, Amy Bonner (Brian), Angela Ivey, Craig Brooks (Kristi) and Kristy Shigley (Len); his stepgrandchildren, Gretchen Nunnally (Max) and Jason Crow; his sisters, Gladys Pearl Brown (Melvin) of Gadsden, AL and Doris Jean Miller (James E.) of Starkville, MS; and his sister-in-law Wilma Jean Brooks. He is also survived by great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
