He was predeceased by: his father John A. Bessant, Sr.; and his stepfather Ben Martin. He is survived by: his mother Dorothy Harper Martin of Phenix City, AL; his wife Kimberly Ritch Bessant of Smiths Station, AL; his children, Whitney Faulk (Philip), John "Johnny" Alfred Bessant (Melissa) of Helena, AL, Zachary Caleb Bessant (Olivia) and Emily Jeter; his sister Linda Burleson (Jean "John"); his grandchildren, Isabella Bessant, Brach, Drake, Makayla Bessant, Zane, Braelyn Faulk, Kennedy Jeter, Greyson Britton and Harper Bessant; his great grandchildren, Luke and Landon Bessant; and his nephews, John and Sean Burleson. He is also survived by several other family members and friends.
The foundation that he has built for his family is strong and we will continue to build on it as we honor his memories.
