She was predeceased by: her parents, Thomas Mitchell Benefield and Katherine Faulk Benefield; her husband Gene Autry Smith; her daughter Betty Martin; and her siblings, Jacob Curtis Benefield, Freeman Benefield, George Benefield, John Benefield, Pleman Benefield and Barbara Moore.
She is survived by: her children, Joseph, Kathy Martin of Savannah, GA, Judy Martin, Janet Sokolay, Middleburg and Sharon Harrell; and her siblings, Melba, Roy Benefield of Orlando, FL, L. A and Thomas Mitchell Benefield, Jr.. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
