He is survived by: his wife Mary Mayo Sauls; his children, Debra Herring (Larry), Melisha Moates (Vincent), David Sauls, Jr. (Tammy) and Robert Sauls (Sheila); and his siblings-in-law, Lamar Buxton and Robin Parsons.
