He is survived by: his wife Carolyn Douglas Smith; his children, Dawn Alexander (John), Jennifer Woodson, Eddie Smith, Allen Smith (Jo Ann), Darryl Smith (Beth) and James Smith Jr. (Teresa); and his sister Nell Ragland. He is also survived by 19 Grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren.
