In the sacred silence of farewell, Herman is released into the embrace of eternity, knowing that his light will continue to shine brightly in the tapestry of the lives of his loved ones. And as his memory is carried forward, may comfort be found in the knowledge that love is eternal, and that Herman's spirit lives on in the beauty that surrounds us.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Willie Smith and Louvenia Gothard; his son David; and his great grandchild Faith. He is survived by: his daughters, Debra Trimm (Tommy) and Donna Curry; his grandchildren, Hugh Trimm (Sarah), Hollie Partridge (Justin), Jeannie Dales (Chris), Chase Curry and Brian Smith (Jessica); and his nephew Ricky Winterbottom. He is also survived by several nieces, nephew, and friends.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, January 21st 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Charter Funeral Home (2521 US-31, Calera, AL 35040). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, January 21st 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
