He is survived by: his wife Mary Joann Humpl Maxwell; his son Joseph P. Maxwell (Allison); his grandsons, Griffin S. Maxwell and Deacon J. Maxwell; and his siblings, Ruth Anne Vagt (Bobby), Larry W. Green (Thresa) and John D. Green (Carol).
