He was predeceased by: his parents, Condie Mathews and Robbie Mathews; his siblings-in-law, George Dearden and Pat Mathews; and his friends, Barry Hightower, Sam Barnes and Don Armstrong.
He is survived by: his wife Leta Mathews; his sons, David "Bo" Mathews (Shannon) and Dr. Brian Mathews (Michelle); his grandchildren, Eavan Mathews (Luke), Rebecca Mathews (Sam), Corrina Mathews (Andrew), Elliot Mathews and Tessa Mathews; his brother Nick Mathews; and his sisters-in-law, Jeanette White (Tony), Judy Billmeier (Ray) and Clet Dearden. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews; and many good friends.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 8th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the First Presbyterian Church (130 E 5th St, Sheffield, AL 35660). A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, February 8th 2025 at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, the Melissa George Foundation, or a charity of your choice.
