He was predeceased by: his parents, Emery A Hester and Mattie Spiers Hester; and his sisters, Ruth Hester, Mavis Anderson and Rita Bennett.

He is survived by: his wife Alliene Blackwell Hester; his daughters, Lynn Hamm (Joe), Angela Krebs and Stacey Kee; and his grandchildren, Justin Hamm (Danielle), Jeb Hamm (Kaitlyn), Brianna Goff, Britni Thornton, Hannah Stanford, Cara Padgett and Abigail Callen.
