She was predeceased by: her parents, Mae Ayers Hackney and James Acra Hackney of Washington; and her siblings, James Acra Hackney, Jr. (Margaret), William Ayers Hackney (Catherine) and Jeanette Hackney Thomas (Harold).
She is survived by: her husband John Brewer Ames; her children, Elizabeth Ames Woodruff (Wayne) of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, John Brewer Ames, Jr. (Beth) of Lafayette, Alabama, Laurie Ames Brantley of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, David Parker Ames (Joanna) of Troy, Alabama and James Hackney Ames (Lory) of Helena, Alabama; and her grandchildren, Elizabeth Kane (Billy), Audra Eason (Joey), Jackson Woodruff (Hailey), John Brewer Ames III (Emily), Ashley Ames, Joseph Ames, Samuel Ames, Anna Brantley, Jay Brantley, Tanner Ames, Grace Ames and Sara Kate Ames. She is also survived by ten great grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews.
