He was predeceased by: his parents, Myrtie Harper and Willie Roberts. He is survived by: his wife Melba Edith Murray; his sons, Mark Roberts (Christy) and Randy Roberts (Amy); his grandchildren, Ken, Ruthie, James and Alex; his sister Nelda Murray (Don); and his brother-in-law Keith Murray (Martha). He is also survived by 2 nephews and 2 nieces.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to First Baptist Church, Selma, Alabama.
