He is survived by: his wife Mattie May; his sons, Christopher Benson (Claudette) and Steve Benson; his stepson David Smith (Lillie); his siblings, Thomas May, Nathaniel May, Mary Harris, Sarah McQuay and Rosetta May; and his siblings-in-law, Frank Smith, Nellie Strong and Nancy Crawford (Henry). He is also survived by twelve grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, host of nieces, nephews, three aunts, cousin, other relatives, and friends.
