He was predeceased by: his parents, Jesse Thurston Smith and Betty Bolding Thomley; and his son Gary Wade Smith, Jr.. He is survived by: his wife Debra Shepard Smith; his daughter Sandy Mills (James A.); his grandchildren, Candice Browning (Pete) and Haley Davis (Drake); his siblings, Bobby Smith (April) and Susan Stevens (Robert); his nieces and nephews, Shawn Smith (Nikki), Dylan Smith (Sarah), Joseph Harrison (Catherine), Douglas Harrison, Olivia Harrison, Zak Jumper (Kandace), Kayla James (Jordan) and Samantha Stevens; his brother-in-law Robert Stevens; and his son-in-law James Mills. He is also survived by six great-grandchildren.
