He was predeceased by: his wife Rita Faye Posey; his parents, Troy Posey and Joyce Posey Bobo; and his brothers, Paul, Jerry and Jackie Posey.

He is survived by: his children, Carl Preston Posey II and Kim Smith (Todd); his granddaughter Jordan Smith; and his nephew Matt Posey (Sondra).
