He was predeceased by: his father Earl Carswell; his son Steven Carswell; his brothers, John Carswell and Mike Carswell; and his stepmother Lois Yvonne Carswell.
He is survived by: his wife Janice Carswell; his children, Bruce Carswell (Tabitha) of Walnut Springs, Texas, Patrick Carswell (Sherry) of Selma, Alabama and Amy Cowan (Michael) of Cullman, Alabama; his siblings, Timothy Carswell (Renee), Robert Carswell (Cathy), Terry Carswell (Mary Lee), James Carswell and Earldean Kimbrell; his grandchildren, Kelly Piper (Randall), Jessica Frazer (Lane), Brittany McNeil (Taylor), Dalton Carswell (Bridgett), Courtney Carswell, Carson Cowan and Tyler Cowan; and his great grandchildren, Wyatt, Patrick, Noah, Brielle, Lukas and Edward. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
