Daniel Luther Stolee Obituary
Daniel Luther Stolee, age 70, of Satsuma, AL passed away on Tuesday, January 3, 2023. He was born on September 16, 1952 in Vancouver, WA to Harold and Mavis Stolee, who proceeded him in death.
Dan (or Danny) as he was affectionately referred to by family and friends, graduated from the 1970 class of Hudson Bay High School in Vancouver, WA. He began his career in the aeronautical industry as a mechanic and eventually, a helicopter pilot. He later worked with Scott Paper Company performing aerial logging throughout the Pacific North West. After moving to Satsuma in the 1980's, he led the Aerial River Delta Logging Project for Scott Paper Company's Alabama Division. The project introduced the ecofriendly concept of logging inaccessible timber by helicopter throughout the Mobile-Tensaw River Delta. He later worked for Cooper T Smith where he retired in 2019. After retirement he spent most of his days playing fetch with his golden retriever, Bailey.
His love for traveling, outdoor adventures, golfing, his kid’s school’s band and soccer programs, and also the community soccer league were just a few of Dan’s passions that he shared with friends and family. He was an instrumental participant in the establishment of the North Mobile Soccer Club where he served as a coach for several years. This not only afforded him the opportunity to mentor youth in the local community, but it was an additional opportunity to spend time with his kids, grandkids. He cared for every ‘child’, most grown now, as if they were his own. All whom he coached will always remember his famous catch phrase on the field, “Get that ball out of my house!”
Dan was a member of MENSA. His intelligence was always apparent. However, family and friends will most remember his boisterous personality and jovial sense of humor.
Daniel Stolee leaves behind to cherish his memories, his wife of 28 years, Brenda Stolee. His loving family also comprises of two daughters, Kati Stolee (Faith) and Lindsi Stolee-Buckles (Jordan); two sons James Harper III and Scott Harper ; three grandchildren, Justin Harper, Jordan Harper, and Chloe Harper; siblings Mike Stolee (Sylvia), Jim Stolee (Lori), Linda Howard (Dennis), Kathy Olson (David), and Becki Heriford (Greg). He leaves behind a beloved host of nieces, nephews, extended family members and esteemed friends to treasure his stories and keep him forever in their hearts.
His friends and family aren't mourning--rather they are celebrating his legacy and look forward to the day they are reunited with him in Christ.
In lieu of a funeral, Dan has requested a Celebration of Life in the form of a Crawfish Boil which will be arranged at a later date.
