He was predeceased by: his parents, Zellon Parten and Arcola Gates Parten; and his siblings, Rev. D. I. Parten, Zelma Jamason, Vivian Mouser, Mildred Hollingshead, Billie Jane Morgan and James A. Parten.
He is survived by: his wife Patricia Walker Parten; his children, Diane Morrow, John Christopher Parten, Me-Lisa Parten and Dylan Parten; his sisters, Kitty Foreson, Margaret Williams, Willodean Goodman, Esther Ross and Virginia Seales; and his close friend Ferrell Hamblin.
