She was predeceased by: her parents, George "Buster" and Onie White Coate; her husband Louis "Max" Byrd, Sr.; her son Louis "Max" Byrd, Jr.; and her sisters, Myrtie Fountain, Jeanette Williamson, Anna Townsend and Judy Deas.

She is survived by: her daughter Phyllis Mashburn; her grandchildren, Brandon Mashburn (Jamie), Jessica Peterson (Devin) and Jon Lucas Byrd; her daughter-in-law Nancy Byrd; and her close friend Mary Alice Shields.
