He was predeceased by: his father Duane Merel Covey; and his granddaughters, Helen Margaret Rupel and Kami Rupel. He is survived by: his mother Dianne Lou Anderson Covey of LaCrescent, MN; his daughters, Bonnie C. Baxley (Wade) of Geneva, AL, Jennifer C. Rupel (Bryan) of Columbus, GA and Patricia C. Gilmore (Sean) of Chancellor, AL; his grandchildren, Brinson, Halen Baxley, Truett Gilmore, Kipten, Nolan and Briggs Rupel; his siblings, Sherrie Gjere of Spring Grove, MN, Kimberly Covey (Kurt) of LaCrescent, MN and Jeff Covey (Debbie) of LaCrescent, MN; his stepmother Linda Covey of Caledonia, MN; and his close friends, Steve, Robyn Phillips of Hokah, MN, Jim and Kim Scholze of Hokah, MN. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, extended family.
A funeral service was held on Tuesday, January 7th 2025 at 2:00 PM and on Friday, January 10th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Chapel of Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home (2744 W Magnolia Ave, Samson, AL 36477). A celebration of life was held on Thursday, January 9th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
The family will receive flowers or memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in Michael's memory.
