It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Smith Gibson Jr. of Salem, Alabama, who passed away on October 1, 2020, at the age of 59, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parent Smith Gibson, Sr.. He is survived by: his mother Beatrice Ashmore Webb of Opelika, AL; his wife Betty Gibson of Salem, AL; his son Malik Gibson (Christina) of Beulah, AL; his stepchildren, Tiffany Daniel of Opelika, AL, Roy Chambers (Kanesheia) of Auburn, AL and Cordeal Chambers (Shanta) of Salem, AL; his aunt Hazel Lindsey of Opelika, AL; and his siblings-in-law, Nancy Dorman of Opelika, AL, Joe Chambers (Brenda) of Opelika, AL, Richard Chambers (Monica) of Opelika, AL, Eddie Chambers (Linda) of Opelika, AL and Antonio Chambers of Opelika, AL. He is also survived by eight grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

CDC recommends that people wear cloth face coverings in public settings when around people outside of their household, especially when other social distancing measures are difficult to maintain.
