He was predeceased by: his parents, Teddie Otis and Edna Jean Blankenship Potter; and his brother Gary Potter. He is survived by: his wife Susan Denise Hill Potter; his children, Joey Quillen (Sandra), Lisa South (Rodney), Adreanne Walker (Donnie), Stephanie Ferree (David), Amanda Whitlock and Caitlin Brown (Desmond); his grandchildren, Kayla Carpenter (Clayton), Joshua Quillen (Katelin), Rebecca Harbor, Zac Layne (Kara), Jarrett, Heath Ferree, Brinleigh and Iyla Brown; his great grandchildren, Olivia, Jason Adams, Denver and Callie Quillen; his grandson Jay Taylor Layne; and his siblings, Rhonda Baker (Charles), Wendy Ergle (David) and Gregg Potter (Sonja).

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Russell Hill Cancer Foundation.
