He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry Lee Clay and Mary Alice Carter; his brothers, George Qualls (Barbara), William J. Carter Sr. and Larry Qualls (Martha); his parents-in-law, Charles and Marie Mosley; and his brother-in-law Willie Joe Sears.
He is survived by: his wife Mildred Mosley Carter; his children, Zachery Mosley (Stacie), Jeffrey Mosley, Patrina Carter, Erica Padron (Paul Igber), John Carter (Holly), Jernauess Allen and Michael Dawson; his siblings, Mae Helen Little, Rochelle Burnett, Martha Leggett (Milton), Mary Ann Hampton, Mae Frances Carter (Charles), Lisa Clay, Lilia Garner (James), Terry Carter (Samantha), Ozzie Carter (Anita) of Harold Clay, JR., Frankie Lee Clay and Lynn Carter; his grandchildren, Trea Mosley (Anna), Camille Mosley (Isaiah), Brooklyn Crittenden (Isaiah), Christian Mosley, Izabella Mosley, Kevin Padron, Jada Padron, Jacklynn Padron, Nate Carter and Isaiah Allen; his great grandchildren, Zalinah Mosley and Kaden Elliott; and his close friends, Darryl and Lorene Murray. He is also survived by aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in memory of John to the American Cancer Society.
