He was predeceased by: his parents, Newman Scott and Thelmer Scott; his wife Joann Scott; his siblings, Alonzo Scott, Lano Scott, Alvis Scott, Judy Scott and Doris Castle; his son Richard Glenn Copeland; and his grandsons, Ethan Knox and Kagen Sutton.
He is survived by: his children, Dean Copeland, Jean Wallace, Martha Townsend, Dewayne Scott (Lillian), Rena Ussery and Paul Scott (Megan); his brothers, Billy Joe Scott (Joann) and Raymond "Buddy" Scott (Trina); his nephews, Melvin, Carlos and Joey; and his niece Shelia. He is also survived by grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
