He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred Thompson and Mildred Thompson; and his siblings, Carolyn Brown and David Thompson. He is survived by: his wife Teresa Wilbanks Thompson; his daughters, Carley Sinz (Derek), Heather Akstulewicz (Kevin) and Taylor Thompson; and his sisters, Fay Davis (Keith), Kay Lane (Bob), Tammie Glossup (Dave) and Linda Ryan.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation.
