He was predeceased by: his father William Edison Slaton; his brothers, Ronnie Slaton and Barry Slaton; his great grandchild Kennedy Ellett; his brother-in-law Louis Karling, Sr.; and his grandparents, John, Mattie Forsythe, Tommy and Maud Slaton.
He is survived by: his children, Donna Cox (Gordon), Lena Ard (Kevin), John Slaton (Karen) and Jimmie "Jaye" Slaton, Jr.; his mother Martha Helen Kelley; his significant other Jean Gillis; his siblings, Janice Karling and Scotty Slaton; and his grandchildren, Trey, Ashley, Erica and Alecia. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Shriner Children's Hospital.
