He was predeceased by: his parents, Byron Edsel Hughes, Sr. and Pauline Hilyer Hughes; and his brother JB Hughes. He is survived by: his wife Dorothy Guy Ward Hughes; his children, Darren Hughes and Ursula Allen (Jeremy); his grandchildren, Cameron Taylor (Brittany), Ashley Taylor (Jacob Beilstein) and Koby Allen; his great grandchild Everleigh Grace Taylor; and his sister Janice Hendon (Lauf).

In lieu of flowers the family ask for donations to Providence Baptist Church.
