He was predeceased by: his parents, Tadeus T. Merritt and Jeanette E. Merritt (Nana); and his stepdaughter Lisa M. Hall. He is survived by: his wife Linda M. Merritt; his sisters, Isabel Ward (Edmund), Nancy Merritt (Anthony Urdi) and Suzanne Burke (Steve); and his stepchildren, Michelle Hall Baita, Michael Hall, Stephen Merritt and Denise Merritt. He is also survived by six grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren.
