He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Robert, Sr. and Alice Petelinski; and his siblings, Edward Petelinski, Joseph R. Petelinski, Jr. and Joyce Gallahan.

He is survived by: his wife Shirley Styron Petelinski; his daughter Charlene Sullivan (Paul); his grandson Joshua Jerome Sullivan; and his great grandchild Joshua Joseph Sullivan. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
