He was predeceased by: his parents, James William Cooper and Mary Frances Cooper (Stokes). He is survived by: his wife Mary Sue Cooper (Barbaree); his sons, James William Cooper III (Jeannie Waters Cooper), Charles Lee Cooper (Patti McDonald Cooper) and Howard Raymond Cooper (Tammy Wilson Cooper); and his brother Charles Stokes Cooper. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the charity of your choice.
