He was predeceased by: his parents, Tymon Head and Lucille Janney Head; his stepdaughter Serena Lyn Thompson; and his sisters, Mary Ann Nobbley and Janice Nobbley.
He is survived by: his wife Faye Hood Head of Roanoke; his son John Michael Head of Childress, TX; his stepdaughter Stacey Ann Hall of Tallassee; his stepgrandchildren, Heather Leigh Hall, Heaven Hall, Hannah Hall and Harrison Hall; and his stepgreat-granddaughter Maria Hall.
