He was predeceased by: his parents, Hughie Blackwell and Ethel Stringer Blackwell; his wife Shirley Ates Blackwell; his daughter Toni Andress; his grandsons, John Evers and Tim Crutchfield; his great grandchild Michael Gage Blackwell Baggett; and his siblings, Barry Blackwell and Marie B. Morgan.
He is survived by: his children, Douglas Blackwell of Range, Cynthia Ivey of Tupelo, MS and Angie Waters (Terry) of Excel; and his grandchildren, Ron, Tracy, Christy, Tiffany, Brian, Holly, Chassidy and Dana. He is also survived by twenty-six great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
