He was predeceased by: his parents, Garvin Defore and Edna Wallace Defore; and his siblings, Horace Defore and Julia Defore Williams. He is survived by: his daughters, Amy Dixon (Don) of Clarksdale, MS and Beth Shumate (Gray) of Parrish, AL; his grandchildren, Katie Fulton (Daniel) of Oxford, MS, Sam Shumate of Parrish, AL, Nathan Hendon of Olympia, WA, Colton Dixon of Clarksdale, MS and Hunter Dixon of Clarksdale, MS; his great grandchild Theo Hendon of Olympia, WA; and his sisters, Judy Reeves (Roger) of Empire, AL and Sally Mayberry (Thomas) of Jasper, AL. He is also survived by other relatives and friends.
