It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Melba Shields of Pleasant Grove, Alabama, born in Hokes Bluff, Alabama, who passed away on May 25, 2022, at the age of 97, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her father Jesse F. Thompson; her significant other Wesley A. Shields; her daughter Jackie Shepard; her granddaughter Erin Carole Gentry; and her sister Ethel Barker.
She is survived by: her sister Barbara Martin; her daughter Deborah Gentry (Barry); her granddaughters, Amber Parsons (Brad), Allison Irvin, Kelsey Crenshaw (David) and Haley Thompson (Josh); and her great grandchildren, Taylor, Bradley, Owen, Eli, Jackson, Dalton, Pearl, Beau and Natalie. She is also survived by four nieces and nephews and other relatives.
