With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Helen Grimes Root (Pleasant Grove, Alabama), who passed away on August 12, 2018. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her husband William D. Root, Jr.; her son William D. Root, III; her great grandchild James D. Smith, III; and also, Billy, Duane and Trey.

She is survived by: her daughters, Mary Root Smith and Patsy E. Root; and her grandchildren, Donny Smith (Dana), Tim Smith, Patrick Smith (Jennifer) and Michele Nelson (Mike). She is also survived by eleven great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren.
