He was predeceased by: his parents, Herman "Tom" Parnell and Bernice Cooper Parnell; his son Michael LaReed Parnell; his brother Robert Parnell; and his sisters-in-law, Shirley Parnell, Esther Jones and Paulette Robertson.
He is survived by: his wife Nell H. Parnell of Plantersville; his daughters, Peggy Parnell Thrash (Ted) and Audrey Parnell Grindle (Tommy); his grandchildren, Andrew Reid Thrash (Christine Ha), Emily Grace Thrash Ousley (Neal), Victoria Rose Grindle (Colt Perryman) and Cooper Earl Grindle; his siblings-in-law, Horace Payton (Sylvia), Mac Jones, Jack Robertson and Katie Wilkins (Larry); his cousins, James Parnell, Peggy Parnell Bearden, Brandon and Kimberly Wright; and his pet Fred.
