She was predeceased by: her husband Tom Smith; her sons, Joseph Andrew Knight, Thomas Verdell Knight and Nathan Lewis Knight; and her sister Ovie Joy Derryberry.

She is survived by: her daughters, Lela Lindsey and Peggy Jean Hernandez. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
