He was predeceased by: his parents, Sim Oren Avans and Joyce Winonna Justus Avans; and his sister Sandra Avans Dalton. He is survived by: his wife Novella Avans; his daughters, Amy Ann Blalock (Stacey) and Amanda Charlee Avans; his sisters, Judy Ellenburg (Robbie) and Sharon Abercrombie (Charles); his stepson John Burt (Elizabeth); his grandchildren, Michael Avans, Caden Skidmore, Kayler Skidmore, Shanea Hinson, Micayla Hinson and Madison Blalock; his great grandchild LJ Patterson; and his stepgrandchildren, John Burt Jr., Jasper Burt and Jedediah Burt. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
