He was predeceased by: his son John Cottingham; his parents, William Cottingham and Mary Elizabeth Craft Cottingham; his siblings, Mary Jetton, Willie McKinney, Margaret Cottingham, Willard Williams, David, Floyd and Cliff Cottingham; and the mother of his children Linda Headrick.
He is survived by: his son James; his daughter-in-law Melissa Cottingham; his stepgrandson Jerit Summers (Alexandria); and his stepgreat-grandchildren, Cooper and Emalynn Summers.
