He was predeceased by: his grandparents, William Earl, Mary Etta Montgomery, Marvin Smith and Ethel Mae Herring; and his niece Rachel Caroline McCollum.
He is survived by: his parents, James Montgomery and Carolyn Montgomery; his wife Ashley Calvert Montgomery; his sons, James Tyler Montgomery and Eric Ryan Montgomery; his stepchildren, Kathryn Grace Davis, Dylon Tyler Davis and Alyssa Nicole Davis; and his siblings, Tonya Montgomery McCollum (Keith) and John Herring Montgomery (Sonia). He is also survived by six nieces and four nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to a GoFundMe page set up for the continued support of his children.
