He was predeceased by: his parents, Jewell Ballew and Preston Ballew; and his siblings, Ophelia Little, Shirley Gouger, Nathaniel Ballew and Rev. Tommy Ballew.
He is survived by: his wife Lisa Ballew of Piedmont; his children, Tyler Ballew, Dan Palmer, Jennifer Palmer, Ben Hughes and Trey Hughes; his grandchildren, Kaydence Palmer, Kailin Palmer of Michael, Gowens Jr. and Affinity; and his sisters, Elsie Parris (James) of Piedmont and Mary Ward of Spring Garden. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
